This page explains how RoofToYard researches, writes and updates its cost guides and calculators.
What we publish
Cost guides, how-to explainers and calculators for the outside of the house: roofing, gutters, siding, windows, garage doors, decks, fences, driveways and concrete.
How we research prices
- We start from current published cost data, such as national cost guides and pricing studies from home-services companies, and compare more than one source whenever we can.
- We report a low-to-high range, not a single number, and explain what pushes a job toward either end.
- For rules such as permits and building codes, we point you to your local building department, because they vary from place to place.
- Each calculator lists its sources directly under the tool.
How we write
We answer the question first, then give the details. We use plain English, short sections and tables for prices. We don’t recommend a product or company because anyone paid us to.
How we use AI tools
We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help gather research and draft articles. A person on our team reviews every guide before it is published, checking prices against the sources and advice for accuracy and safety.
Updates and corrections
Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and we review prices at least once a year. If you find a mistake, email contact@rooftoyard.com and we will check it and correct the page.
Independence and advertising
The site is paid for by ads. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or conclude, and ads are kept visually separate from our content.
